The TALAia project aims to detect environmental changes in aquatic environments in Catalonia by applying Artificial Intelligence methods to Earth Observation satellite data.
The study is carried out in four different study areas, which validate the algorithms developed for calculating the extent of inland waters, sea state (waves and winds), coastline estimation, and underwater vegetation. To monitor these environments, it is intended to generate environmental indicators that could operate in near real time.
The project uses satellite data from active and passive microwave sensors as well as optical data, combined using deep learning algorithms.
isardSAT designs and implements innovative algorithms to estimate the relevant geophysical parameters in each case study. It also generates environmental indicators and tools for visualising results, and develops a smart prototype for the Ebro Delta, which will be integrated into the RESCAT project.
This project has the support of the Government of Catalonia.
